The BBQ Shop

Real Texas Wood-fired Pit BBQ

We are located in Farwell, Texas and in Clovis, New Mexico. Thursdays you’ll find us in our Farwell dining room from 10am until the food is gone. Eat in or take it home with you. Fridays and Saturdays at 4:00 pm we’re at our trailer in Clovis at 621 Pile serving real Texas wood-fired pit BBQ until it’s all gone.

About Us

Farwell is a farming town in West Texas with a big sense of family and a great tradition of Texas BBQ that has been passed down. Being right on the border of Texas and New Mexico they have created a little different flavor from some of the BBQ you'll find in Austin, Dallas, San Antonio or rest of the state. Steve and Rita Perry, who have recently bought the business from his dad Kelly Mimms, admit that the tradition, everyone's hard work and a loyal following is what has set them apart and given them the success they've seen. They are extremely proud to be a part of the Texas BBQ tradition.

Our Menu

We have a full menu at our Farwell location and lots of yummy sides and desserts. The Clovis trailer’s menu is shortened just a little bit. Check them out:

  • Brisket
  • Burnt Ends
  • Turkey Breast

Since we found that National BBQ Day is May 25 and National Brisket Day is May 28, we decided we couldn’t wait. So we have BBQ ready for your enjoyment every Thursday, Friday and Saturday. And there’s catering available too!

Our Favorite Things

The BBQ Shop Farwell

Texas Monthly magazine takes a look at “Small-town Smokers”, people who are making the ever-popular Texas BBQ tradition live on.

Some people call us easy. We just tell everybody we’re flexible.

So, you have lots of folks or just a few. You want it at your place or ours? Just check off your favorite meats and sides. And don’t forget the desserts. Now, relax and leave all the rest up to us.

Wedding Meals

Your most special day might start with bails of hay to sit on in a barn. Or something more sophisticated. Everyone might not agree on the colors, the venue or the style. But agreeing on Texas BBQ for the meal is where the magic starts to happen.

Family Gatherings

Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall is the best time for families. And it takes just a minute to look around and find something to celebrate. Save some of that imagination and picture the taste of Texas that’s waiting come meal time. We’ll even bring the food trailer.

Company Events

Going the extra mile is just what any successful organization does. There’s a reward for dedication. Companies looking for the best ways to encourage their folks and build great teams turn to us. So let’s ring the dinner bell and enjoy some well-deserved downtime.

What They’re Saying

Great barbecue. Great sauce. Fast. Very nice place. Clean and decorated nicely. Will go back every time we are there. Wish they would open a place in Boise, Idaho.

Randy Welborn

A place to get fantastic BBQ. I’m glad they are servicing the Clovis area with their food truck now.

Britni Wilkins Sherwood

Went today for lunch and I’m so mad that I’ve never been before! It’s sooo good. My husband had the brisket sandwich plate and I got the ribs.

Julie Montano

By far the best barbecue anywhere! We can’t wait to eat there and make that pilgrimage as often as we can. Love the sauce! You’ve gotta try the cornbread to!

JoAnne Scach

The very best in BBQ in this area is now in Clovis in the form of a food trailer. Consider yourselves lucky fellow residents of Clovis.

David Best

Holy moly the best BBQ I’ve had in like…. Forever!!! Omg the Brisket, pulled pork, mac n cheese, potato salad and coleslaw were all amazing!!! Nothing was bad!!!

Katy Kenimer

Steve smokes with oak and serves the favorites, like juicy pork ribs, as well as brisket, turkey, sausage, pulled pork , and his famous pig candy, which is best described as bacon jerky in a candy coating.
